Glaxo says FDA OKs use of HIV drug Lexiva with ritonavir

Oct 12 (Reuters) - GlaxoSmithKline (GSK.N) said U.S. health regulators approved the use of HIV protease inhibitor Lexiva in combination with 100mg of ritonavir.

Ritonavir works with Lexiva and other protease inhibitors to boost the medication level in the bloodstream making the protease inhibitor more effective in suppressing HIV.

Lexiva is indicated for the treatment of HIV infection in combination with other antiretroviral medications, the company said in a statement. (Reporting by Jennifer Robin Raj in Bangalore)
