Greece's OTE says ready to sell Telekom Srbija stake

ATHENS, Dec 23 (Reuters) - Greece’s biggest telecom OTE (OTEr.AT) is prepared to sell its minority stake in Telekom Srbija and needs another three months to decide whether it will acquire full control of its Romanian unit Romtelecom, the company’s chief executive officer said on Thursday.

“Our intention is to sell (our stake in Telekom Sbrija) as long as the price will be within the limits set by our management board,” CEO Michael Tsamaz told reporters.

Romania’s government, which owns 46 pct of Romtelecom while OTE holds the rest of the company, has asked OTE to decide by the end of the month whether it wants to increase its stake.

Asked if OTE had taken a decision, Tsamaz said: “We will ask for another extension of about three months.” (Reporting by Harry Papachristou; Editing by Jon Loades-Carter)
