Haiti Senate votes out prime minister

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Oct 30 (Reuters) - Haiti’s Senate voted Prime Minister Michele Pierre-Louis out of office on Friday after lawmakers criticised her performance over economic recovery in the poorest nation in the Americas.

The resolution dismissing Pierre-Louis as prime minister was approved by 18 votes in the 29-member Senate, meeting the requirement for a simple majority.

President Rene Preval was expected to appoint a replacement to Pierre-Louis, who had served just over a year in office. (Reporting by Joseph Guyler Delva; editing by Mohammad Zargham)
