A lawsuit in Texas federal court between a telemedicine startup and a state medical board promises to test states’ ability to restrict the increasingly common practice of telemedicine.
The company, Teladoc Inc, sued the Texas Medical Board in April to block a new state rule requiring doctors to see patients in person before diagnosing or treating them over the phone.
