Prime Healthcare lawsuit over failed Calif. hospital deal dismissed

A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit by Prime Healthcare Services claiming that former California Attorney General Kamala Harris scuttled its proposed 2015 acquisition of a struggling hospital nonprofit by imposing conditions at the behest of a healthcare workers’ union.

U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel in San Diego rejected Prime’s claim that its constitutional equal protection rights were violated by Harris’ imposition of onerous conditions, and he held that she was entitled to qualified immunity.
