Nikkei falls after BOJ rate cut

TOKYO (Reuters) - Japan’s Nikkei average fell 0.9 percent on Friday as profit-taking before the weekend overshadowed a Bank of Japan interest rate cut, with Toyota Motor retreating after a newspaper report warned about an annual operating loss.

The Nikkei shed 78.71 points to 8,588.52 and the broader Topix edged 0.5 percent lower to 834.43.
