LONDON, Oct 13 (Reuters) - Shares in Reed Elsevier REL.L gained as much as 3 percent on Wednesday, with traders citing talk that Wolters Kluwer WLSNc.AS is interested in making a bid for the Anglo-Dutch publishing company.
Traders in London and Paris said that there was talk that Wolters Kluwer was set to bid at 6.50 pounds per share for Reed.
Wolters Kluwer declined to comment, while Reed was not immediately available for comment.
The volume on Reed shares already represented 75 percent of the stock's 90-day average daily volume, compared with 23 percent for the FTSE 100 .FTSE. (Reporting by Simon Falush, Blaise Robinson, Harpreet Bhal and Jon Hopkins)
