CORRECTED - FACTBOX-Top U.S. bank analysts in 2008 and 2009

Sept 9 (Reuters) - Wall Street bank analysts roundly failed
to call the collapse of Lehman Brothers a year ago and few
predicted the rally earlier this year.
Thomson Reuters StarMine ranks analysts by calculating
their ability to generate profit with their picks on individual
stocks versus the market.
Only 45 percent of bank analysts beat the market with their
recommendations in 2008 and this has barely improved this year,
with just 46 percent of analysts so far doing better than the
market, according to StarMine.
The analysts are graded against either a commercial banks
index -- including Bank of America Corp BAC.N and JPMorgan
Chase & Co JPM.N, for example -- or a capital markets index
that includes Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley MS.N, StarMine
said.
These are the best-performing analysts covering Goldman
Sachs Group GS.N, Morgan Stanley, Bank of America BAC.N and
Citigroup C.N in 2008 and so far this year:
