Kelsey Grammer, Not Carl Reiner, to Host DGA Awards

The 64th annual DGA Awards will not  be hosted by Carl Reiner.

That was the big news coming out of the Directors Guild of America on Monday, when the guild announced that next year's awards show will be hosted by actor/producer/director Kelsey Grammer.

Reiner has been an institution at the non-televised DGA Awards, hosting the show 23 times over the years.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Kelsey Grammer as the host of the DGA Awards,” guild president Hackford said in a statement.  “With his acerbic wit, his mellifluous voice and his long experience in the entertainment industry, the evening promises to be just as irreverent, intimate and entertaining as always.”

Best known as the star of television shows ranging from "Cheers" and "Frasier" to "Boss," Grammer became a DGA member in 1996 and was nominated for the guild's award for an episode of "Frasier." He has also directed episodes of "Everybody Hates Chris," "Hank" and "Out of Practice."

The DGA Awards will take place on January 28 in the Grand Ballroom at the Hollywood & Highland Center in Los Angeles. Related Articles:  DGA Reaches Deal With Indie Ad Producers Group
