Sean Young Arrested on Misdemeanor Battery Charge After Oscars

Actress Sean Young was booked and released on a misdemeanor battery charge after a citizens arrest after the Oscars on Sunday night, police said.

TMZ reported that Young was taking pictures with friends near the entrance to the Governors Ball when security guards realized she didn't have a ticket and asked her to leave. Young left but then returned, TMZ said. The site said she was placed under citizen's arrest when a guard may have touched her, and that she was accused of slapping him.

Police confirmed Young's arrest to TheWrap but did not have further details.

In an interview with TMZ as she was released from the LAPD Hollywood substation, Young said that an Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences lawyer recommended that a citizen's arrest be made. She said she was standing outside a rope line at the time.

"What the Academy recommends that its lawyers recommend that they be carted off to spend four hours at the Hollywood police," she said. "Shame on you for that."

She was apparently referring to herself as "they" and saying "shame on you" to the academy, not the interviewer. She added that the academy should fire the lawyer.

Young has a history of odd behavior. After an injury cost her a role in 1989's "Batman," she donned a Catwoman suit to try to convince director Tim Burton to cast her as the feline villain in "Batman Returns." It didn't work.

In 2008, she was removed from the Directors Guild of America awards after heckling director Julian Schnabel. She subsequently checked into rehab for alcoholism. Last year, she appeared on the fifth season of "Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew."

In an appearance on "Late Night With David Letterman" in October, Young said she was actively seeking acting jobs. She also made fun of her reputation in a video in which she wore a Catwoman costume and insisted she wasn't crazy.
