* MOSUL - A joint U.S. and Iraqi force killed two militants suspected of links to al-Qaeda and arrested one in western Mosul, 390 km (240 miles) north of Baghdad, on Thursday evening, police said.

BAGHDAD - A roadside bomb wounded three Shi'ite pilgrims making their way from central Baghdad to north Baghdad's Imam Moussa al-Kadhim shrine, ahead of next week's ritual of mourning for the death of the medieval Shi'ite holy man, police said.

KIRKUK - Gunmen in a speeding car killed a civilian near an office of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan Party (PUK) in eastern Kirkuk, 250 km (155 miles) north of Baghdad, late on Thursday, police said. (Compiled by Baghdad newsroom)
