EU's Barroso: attempts to weaken euro stability doomed

BRUSSELS, May 10 (Reuters) - European Union agreement to create a $1 trillion emergency fund to stop the Greeek debt crisis from spreading will ensure the stability of the euro currency, European Commision President Jose Manuel Barroso said.

“This morning’s agreement will ensure that any attempt to weaken the stability of the euro will fail.”

“We have stated that we will do whatever is necessary to defend the stability of the euro. Today we have done just that,” Barroso told the World Economic Forum in Brussels.
