FACTBOX-Security developments in Iraq, Oct 1

Oct 1 (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Iraq at 1800 GMT on Thursday.

* Indicates a new or updated item.

* MOSUL - Police said they found the body of a man with gunshot wounds to the chest and head in western Mosul, 390 km (240 miles) north of Baghdad.

* MOSUL - Police shot dead a kidnapper during a sting in which he was told he would be paid a ransom in exchange for a hostage he had snatched a few days earlier in Mosul, police said. The hostage is still being held by the man’s cohorts.

BAGHDAD - An elite Iraqi police unit arrested Khalid Masur Ismail, an alleged financer of the Shi’ite militia group Kata’bi Hezbollah in northeastern Baghdad’s Sadr City slum, the U.S military said in a statement.

BAGHDAD - A roadside bomb targeting Iraqi oil police wounded three oil police and three civilians in central Baghdad’s Karrada district, police said.

FALLUJA - A bomb planted on a car killed one civilian and wounded another in Fallujah, 50 km (32 miles) west of Baghdad, police said.
