Video depicts B-2 bomber flying over Miami Beach during Memorial Day show

Footage of a U.S. military aircraft flying over Miami Beach on May 27, during an event for the Memorial Day holiday, has been misrepresented in social media posts claiming that the clip shows unusual military activity.
“B-2 Spirit Stealth Bomber Flying Over Miami. Reports from military sources that missile defense systems are being moved to locations on the U.S. West Coast,” reads a tweet with the clip that has amassed over 450 retweets since it was posted on June 19 (here)
Reuters has addressed other videos taken out of context in social media posts claiming to show recent military activity near or in the U.S. (here), (here).
The video was indeed recorded in Miami Beach (see similar landscape of buildings goo.gl/maps/5Lpd9X4wwGdNUYb76), but it is not new.
It has been online since at least May 27, when it was posted on YouTube alongside a description referring to a 2023 Memorial Day airshow (here).
A similar clip showing the aircraft was posted on the Twitter account of the Hyundai Air and Sea Show on the same date (here).
Nicole Lewis, a spokesperson for the Hyundai Air and Sea Show, said the miscaptioned clip was filmed in Miami Beach during the company-sponsored event on Memorial Day weekend.
“The B2 flew by making three passes on Saturday, May 27th,” said Mickey Markoff, executive producer of the “National Salute to America’s Heroes,” which includes the Hyundai Air and Sea Show.
The U.S. Air Force did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Images of the B2 Spirit, also known as the B2 stealth bomber, can be viewed on its manufacturer’s website (here).
