Israeli police to question Olmert for fifth time

JERUSALEM, Aug 5 (Reuters) - Israeli police investigating bribery and fraud allegations will question Prime Minister Ehud Olmert for the fifth time on Friday, a police spokesman said on Tuesday.

Olmert is suspected of taking bribes from an American businessman and double-claiming for travel expenses during previous stints as trade minister and mayor of Jerusalem. The prime minister has denied wrongdoing, but announced last week that he would resign as soon as his Kadima Party elects a new leader next month, citing the public backlash over the case.
