Romania - Factors to Watch on June 29

BUCHAREST, June 29 (Reuters) - Here are news stories, press reports and events to watch which may affect Romanian financial markets on Wednesday.

INTEREST RATES

Romania’s central bank holds an interest rate setting meeting and analysts widely expect it to leave rates unchanged at a record low of 6.25 percent — the highest among its central and eastern European peers.

A decision is expected at around 1000 GMT.

GOVERNMENT MEETING

The centrist coalition government holds weekly meeting at 1200 GMT with no agenda available yet.

DEBT ISSUANCE

The finance ministry is expected to announce leu debt issuance plans for July. Debt managers have sold about 4 billion lei ($1.34 billion) in June, slightly below their plan of 4.3 billion lei.

EUROBANK WANTS BALKAN UNITS SELF-FUNDED BY 2012

EFG Eurobank EFGr.AT, Greece’s second-largest lender, wants its units in southeast Europe to be fully self-funded by 2012 and not depend on their parent, the group’s chief executive told shareholders on Tuesday. [ID:nLDE75R0DG]

ROMANIA, CHINA GUANGDONG TO TALK OVER NUCLEAR UNITS

Romania will meet representatives of China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group next week to discuss adding two more units to its only nuclear power plant, an official was quoted as saying.

ROMANIAN UNEMPLOYMENT FALLS TO 5 PCT IN MAY

Romania’s jobless rate fell to 5 percent in May, from 5.4 percent in April, the employment agency said on Tuesday.
