BARCELONA, Nov 19 (Reuters) - The surging smartphone market will likely only grow faster next year, British microchip designer ARM ARM.L said on Thursday.
“Smartphones grew this year, and we are going to probably see faster growth next year,” finance director Tim Score said at a conference.
Analyst estimates for smartphone market growth range from 20-30 percent for this year.
Score said he expected smartphone market volume to grow to more than 500 million in five years from 200 million phones this year.
ARM said the company had been quite resilient in 2009.
“We probably going to end up with an operating margin of around 30 percent,” Score said. (Reporting by Tarmo Virki; Editing by Dan Lalor)
