SANTIAGO, Oct 23 (Reuters) - Chile Generator Aes Gener CHG.SN, a unit of U.S. power company AES AES.N, said on Thursday it obtained a $1 billion syndicated loan to help it finance its Angamos thermal complex in northern Chile.
AES Gener, Chile’s second-largest electrical generator, said the 17-year loan agreement was reached between its 100 percent-owned Empresa Electrica Angamos unit and a group of banks led by BNP Paribas and ABN AMRO.
The Angamos project involves construction of a 518 megawatt coal-fired plant in Chile’s power-hungry mining region. (Reporting by Monica Vargas; writing by Pav Jordan)
