PARIS, Dec 8 (Reuters) - A French government spokesman said on Wednesday the country was “confident” about the prospects of a deal to sell French Rafale fighter jets to Brazil.
Brazil, actively courted as the first foreign buyer of Rafale jets, has so far delayed a decision on whether to buy the fighters made by French firm Dassault Aviation AVMD.PA until newly elected President Dilma Rouseff takes office next year.
Asked about the status of talks over the sale of the planes after a meeting of government ministers, the French government spokesman Francois Baroin said: “We are confident”. (Reporting by Emmanuel Jarry, writing by Nick Vinocur)
