The British insurer said Howard Davies, a former head of Britain’s financial regulator, would join its board as one of several senior appointments at the group. Prudential also said Mike Wells, the chief operating officer of its U.S. subsidiary, Jackson National Life, would take over as chief executive of the unit from Jan.1, replacing Clark Manning. BNY Mellon BK.N

The U.S. custody bank appointed Timothy Vara president of the BNY Mellon Trust Co, effective Jan.1 next year. Vara replaces Troy Kilpatrick, who was recently named head of global business development and marketing for BNY Mellon Corporate Trust. [ID:nASA00TT5]

HSBC HSBA.L

The bank named Sarah Legg as its new chief financial officer for its Asia Pacific operations, effective Dec.3. Legg, who is currently the chief accounting officer for Asia Pacific, succeeds Iain Mackay, who will move to London in December to become group finance director, HSBC Holdings plc.

STATE STREET CORP STT.N

State Street Global Advisors, the investment management business of the firm, appointed Kevin Anderson as global chief investment officer to its fixed income and currency team. It also named Marc Reinganum as head of global active developed market equities.

RAYMOND JAMES FINANCIAL RJF.N

The investment bank appointed Bob Berry, previously co-head of the firm’s mergers and acquisitions group, to head the consumer and retail division, it said on Thursday. Mergers and acquisitions bankers Christine Albertelli, Brian McDermott and Dan Fairweather have also been appointed to the division. Berry, Albertelli and Fairweather will be based in Boston, and are former executives of Lane Berry, which Raymond James acquired in 2009. McDermott will be based in Florida.

BOFA MERRILL LYNCH BAC.N

The firm appointed Tom Fickinger as head of financial adviser strategy, in a new role which has been created to help established and trainee advisers build their businesses in a tough market, according to an internal memo seen by Reuters on Thursday. [ID:nN14145805]
