LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess are in early negotiations to star in “One Day,” a romantic drama from the director of “An Education.”
The Focus Features project, based on a novel by David Nicholls, revolves around Dexter and Emma, who meet for the first time during their graduation in 1988 and proceed to meet one day a year for the next 20 years. The story tracks their lives and loves until they realize they are meant for each other. Danish filmmaker Lone Scherfig will direct.
Hathaway is on screen as the White Queen in Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland.” She is coming off shooting “Love and Other Drugs,” which reunited her with her “Brokeback Mountain” co-star, Jake Gyllenhaal.
Sturgess, best known for starring in “Across the Universe,” recently wrapped Peter Weir’s “The Way Back,” a World War II drama that also stars Colin Farrell and Saoirse Ronan.
