Yankees' Aceves put on disabled list with back problems

DETROIT (Reuters) - New York Yankees reliever Alfredo Aceves has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with back problems, the team said Wednesday.

Aceves, a right-hander who is 3-0 with a 3.00 ERA in 10 games this season, experienced problems with his back during a bullpen pitching session on Tuesday.

He will return to New York for additional tests on his lower back, the Yankees, who are playing in Detroit, said on their website (newyork.yankees.mlb.com).

“Backs are tricky,” Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. “You never know. It could be a week, it could be a couple of days, it could be two weeks. You just don’t know.”
