Strong 6.9 magnitude quake shakes Philippines: USGS

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A strong 6.9 magnitude earthquake shook the Philippines, the U.S. Geological Survey reported on Friday.

The quake, which occurred Saturday morning local time, struck 66 miles southwest of Cotabato, Mindanao, Philippines, at a depth of 375 miles, the USGS said.

The USGS initially said the quake had a magnitude of 7.1.
