Georgia, Russia to hold further talks July 1

GENEVA, May 19 (Reuters) - Georgia and Russia had constructive security talks on Tuesday and agreed to meet again on July 1, said senior EU diplomat Pierre Morel, one of the co-chairs of the talks.

"The process is in full swing and it today consolidated its working methods," Morel, special representative of the European Union for the crisis in Georgia, told a news conference after about 3-1/2 hours of talks.

The future of the talks, set up last year after Russia and Georgia fought a brief war in August, had appeared in doubt on Monday after Russia and the breakaway Georgian region of South Ossetia walked out after another breakaway region, Abkhazia, refused to take part.
