Juncker says Lagarde "ideal candidate" for IMF job

PARIS, May 19 (Reuters) - French Finance Minister Christine Lagarde would make a perfect candidate to be the next leader of the International Monetary Fund, the chairman of euro zone finance ministers Jean-Claude Juncker said on Thursday.

“In my eyes (she) would be an ideal candidate,” Juncker said on French radio Europe 1. He also said that a candidate from the euro zone would be best suited to help the IMF deal with the bloc’s debt crisis. (Reporting by Leigh Thomas; Editing by Catherine Bremer)
