IMF's Lipsky: unclear whether Fed will do QE2

SHANGHAI, Oct 18 (Reuters) - There is no clarity about whether the U.S. Federal Reserve will act on a new round of quantitative easing, the IMF’s First Managing Director, John Lipsky, said on Monday.

Speaking at the end of a meeting of global central bankers and finance officials in Shanghai, Lipsky said a decision about “QE2” would depend on data.

He also said that there would be no global currency war, but rather a coordindated approach between countries. (Reporting by Farah Master and Kevin Yao; Editing by Ben Blanchard)
