Indonesia reports 1,017 new coronavirus infections, 64 deaths

(Reuters) - Indonesia reported on Monday 1,017 new coronavirus infections and 64 more deaths, the highest COVID-19 death toll in a single day in the Southeast Asian nation to date.

Health ministry official Achmad Yurianto said the total number of cases in Indonesia had now reached 39,294, while fatalities had increased to 2,198.

The total number of people who have recovered from the coronavirus is 15,123.
