UPDATE 1-International Flavors profit slips, revenue higher

* Q4 adj EPS 63 cents; Street view 62 cents

* Revenue rises 8.6 percent

NEW YORK, Feb 9 (Reuters) - International Flavors and Fragrances Inc (IFF.N) said on Tuesday fourth-quarter net income fell 3.1 percent as costs fell and prices for its products rose.

The company makes fragrances and flavors used in a wide range of consumer products, such as cologne and food dyes.

For the quarter, the New York-based company posted net income of $47.4 million, or 59 cents per share, compared with $48.9 million, or 62 cents per share, in the year-ago period.

Excluding one-time items, the company earned 63 cents per share. By that measure, analysts expected 62 cents, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.

Revenue rose 8.6 percent to $585.6 million. Analysts expected $574.8 million. (Reporting by Ernest Scheyder; editing by John Wallace)
