Judge sanctions pro se doctors in 'frivolous' medical device patent case

An attempt by two doctors to assert a patent against colleagues in the medical profession backfired badly on Thursday when a federal judge sanctioned them and dismissed their pro se litigation campaign.

U.S. District Judge Virginia Kendall in Chicago dismissed a patent infringement case that Chicago-based doctors Nazir Khan and his son Iftikhar Khan brought against more than 300 defendants, including corporations, hospitals and individual physicians.
