Capital One strikes out in antitrust case against Intellectual Ventures

Capital One Financial Corp on Tuesday hit a likely dead end in a long-running effort to have the patent licensing firm Intellectual Ventures found liable for antitrust violations.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit affirmed a summary judgment ruling that Intellectual Ventures’ approach to buying and licensing patents does not constitute an abuse of monopoly power.
