Sprint, T-Mobile knock out 'abstract' Intellectual Ventures patents

A federal judge on Wednesday partially dismissed an infringement case the patent holding company Intellectual Ventures brought against T-Mobile USA Inc, Sprint Corp and United States Cellular Corporation.

U.S. District Judge Leonard Stark in Delaware invalidated key claims in three of the seven patents remaining in IV’s litigation campaign against the wireless carriers, saying the patents improperly claimed abstract ideas.
