Puma fails to chip away at Nike sneaker patent case

German athletic footwear maker Puma SE’s U.S. subsidiary on Wednesday lost a bid to pare down a patent infringement lawsuit filed by rival Nike Inc.

U.S. District Judge Leo Sorokin in Boston rejected arguments by Puma North America Inc that two of the seven patents Nike accused it of infringing were invalid because they claimed patent-ineligible abstract ideas.
