Iraq awards $733 mln contract to expand oil export

BAGHDAD, Sept 28 (Reuters) - Iraq’s cabinet approved a $733 million contract on Tuesday for oil export expansion to Leighton Offshore Private Ltd, Iraq’s government spokesman said.

The project, for which Foster Wheeler won a project management consultancy (PMC) services contract in July, is expected to boost Iraq’s oil export capacity from the southern city of Basra to 3 million barrels per day from 1.8 million bpd now, government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh told Reuters.
