Bank of Italy denies report of emergency intervention plan

ROME, Nov 2 (Reuters) - The Bank of Italy (BOI) denied a report on Wednesday that it was preparing emergency intervention over Italian government bonds held by Italian banks.

Italian daily Il Messaggero reported on Wednesday that the BOI was preparing intervention in which it could, for example, take on short term Italian bonds held by Italian banks in exchange for a commitment for them to acquire new longer term debt.
