Japan July housing starts fall 9.6 pct yr/yr

TOKYO, Aug 31 (Reuters) - Housing starts in Japan fell 9.6
percent in July from a year earlier, data from the land ministry
showed on Friday.  
    Orders received by 50 major construction companies in July
rose 8.0 percent from a year earlier.
