Japan July housing starts up 12.0 pct yr/yr -govt

TOKYO, Aug 30 (Reuters) - Housing starts in Japan rose 12.0
percent in July from a year earlier, data from the land ministry
showed on Friday, helped in part by buying rush ahead of a
planned sales tax hike next April.
    Orders received by 50 major construction companies rose 13.7
percent in July from a year earlier.
