(Adds radiation level at Fukushima plant)

TOKYO, March 14 (Reuters) - Japan’s Tokyo Electric Power Co (TEPCO) said on Monday it has reported a rise in radiation levels at its Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant to the government.

The cooling system of the plant, located 240 km (150 miles) north of Tokyo, was damaged by Friday’s massive earthquake and tsunami, forcing the operator to release radioactive air to reduce pressure inside reactor container vessels.

Radiation levels at the plant reached 751.2 microsievert per hour earlier In the day, a TEPCO spokeswoman said, slightly more than the level one is exposed to for a stomach X-ray. (Reporting by Kiyoshi Takenaka; Editing by Chris Gallagher)
