BELGRADE, July 27 (Reuters) - Serb President Boris Tadic urged Kosovo Serbs to refrain from violence, hours after ethnic Serbs stormed and set ablaze a border crosing in the Serb-dominated Northern Kosovo, a statement said on Wednesday.
“The hooligans who are sparking violence are not defending either the people or the Serb state,” said a statement from Tadic’s office. “The people must refrain from violence,” it said.
Ethnic Serb extremists attacked and set fire to a border crossing post in northern Kosovo after Kosovo’s government said it had regained control of that station and one other. The same border post was burned down in 2008 by local Serbs after this former Serbia’s sothern province declared independence.
