Journalist shot dead in Russia's Dagestan-police

MAKHACHKALA, Russia, Aug 11 (Reuters) - A local newspaper journalist was shot dead on Tuesday in Russia's mainly Muslim region of Dagestan, a police spokesman said. "The body of Malik Akhmedilov was found at midday with a gunshot wound to the head," the spokesman said by telephone.

Akhmedilov was a sub-editor on local Avar-language newspaper, Khakikat, said a colleague at the newspaper who asked for his name not to be used. (Writing by Conor Humphries; Editing by Jon Hemming)
