WASHINGTON, April 8 (Reuters) - U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said on Wednesday she was very worried by the hijacking of a U.S.-flagged ship off Somalia and called for world action to end the "scourge" of piracy.
"We are deeply concerned and we are following it very closely," Clinton told reporters.
"Specifically, we are now focused on this particular act of piracy and the seizure of the ship that carries 21 American citizens. More generally, we think the world must come together to end the scourge of piracy," she added. (Reporting by Sue Pleming; editing by Todd Eastham)
