Libyan airline buys two ATR jets, eyes more planes

RABAT, Oct 6 (Reuters) - Libyan flag carrier Arab Libyan Airline has signed an order for two planes with turbo-prop planemaker ATR, a joint venture between EADS EAD.PA and Finmeccanica SIFI.MI, state news agency Jana said on Tuesday.

“The airline will purchase more aircraft, whether they would be from ATR or other planemakers,” Jana added, quoting a statement from the airline.

The two planes, with a combined cost of 31 million dinars ($25.51 million), would be delivered within 45 days, it said.

The deal was reached on the sidelines of Libya’s airshow, staged at Maitigua airport on the outskirts of Tripoli, added Jana. ($1=1.215 Libyan Dinar) (Reporting by Lamine Ghanmi; Editing by Simon Jessop)
