Malaysian Air orders 55 Boeing planes for $4.2 bln

KUALA LUMPUR, March 31 (Reuters) - State-controlled Malaysian Airline System Bhd MASM.KL has ordered up to 55 new Boeing (BA.N) 737-800 aircraft for $4.2 billion, the airline said on Monday.

It will also take delivery of 6 Airbus A380 aircraft in 2011, Malaysia Airlines said in a statement to the stock exchange. (Reporting by Niluksi Koswanage; Writing by Clarence Fernandez)
