TREASURIES-US govt bonds add to gains on dismal housing data

NEW YORK, Aug 24 (Reuters) - U.S. Treasuries extended their gains on Tuesday, pushing two-year yields to a record low, on dismal housing data that was much worse than already grim forecasts.

The gains pushed benchmark 10-year notes US10YT=RR up a point on the day and yields to under 2.50 percent, which had been seen as psychological resistance that could prompt profit taking after recent rallies.

The 30-year long bond US30YT=RR also rose more that two points on the day and was last up 2-5/32 yielding 3.55 percent.
