Japan's Nikkei steady, banking shares slip

TOKYO, Nov 18 (Reuters) - Japan’s benchmark Nikkei average held steady on Wednesday, but a broad swathe of sectors including banking shares .IBNKS.T slipped even though U.S. stocks hit 13-month highs the previous day.

The Nikkei .N225 rose 6.15 points to 9,736.08.

But the broader Topix index .TOPX fell 0.6 percent to 851.93. (Reporting by Masayuki Kitano)
