WASHINGTON, Sept 4 (Reuters) - U.S. antitrust authorities have approved cable operator RCN Corp's RCNI.O purchase of wholesale communications provider Neon Communications Group Inc. NGI.A, the Federal Trade Commission said in a statement on Tuesday.
The deal was expected to be worth about $260 million and would double RCN Business Solutions’ revenue in Chicago and the northeastern United States, the companies said in a joint statement when the merger was initially announced in June.
The FTC said U.S. antitrust authorities had looked at the deal and found no reason to stop it. (Reporting by Diane Bartz)
