Sept 14 (Reuters) - Software licensing company SCO Group Inc SCOX.O said it filed for protection from creditors under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code.
In August, a U.S. court had ruled that the company did not have copyrights that are key to its claims of ownership of technology used in Linux software.
The court ruled Novell Inc NOVL.O, rather than SCO, owns copyrights to the UNIX computer operating system. (Reporting by Anup Roy in Bangalore)
