Calif. budget includes $10,000 homebuyer credit

* Credit not limited to first-time buyers

* Applies to newly built, previously unoccupied homes

NEW YORK, Feb 20 (Reuters) - The budget California lawmakers approved on Thursday includes a $10,000 homebuyer tax credit.

The credit applies to newly constructed, previously unoccupied homes and will become available starting March 1, according to the California Building Industry Association.

Purchasers must live in the home for at least two years. They do not have to be first-time homebuyers and do not need to meet maximum income requirements, the association said. (Reporting by Helen Chernikoff; editing by John Wallace)
