Obama to visit Indiana, Florida to push stimulus

WASHINGTON, Feb 6 (Reuters) - President Barack Obama will travel to Indiana and Florida next week, the White House said on Friday, as he steps up his campaign to press the U.S. Congress to pass a nearly $900 billion economic stimulus bill.

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said Obama would travel to Elkhart, Indiana, on Monday for a town hall meeting on the stimulus bill before holding a White House news conference on Monday night. The Indiana town has seen its unemployment jump to 15.3 percent from 4.7 percent in the past year, he said.

Obama will visit Fort Myers, Florida, for a similar session on Tuesday.
