BEIJING (Reuters) - A 28-year-old Chinese man convicted of killing six police officers was executed in Shanghai on Wednesday, state media reported.
Yang Jia, from Beijing, on July 1 stabbed a security guard at a Shanghai police station and then burst inside and slashed police officers with a knife, six of whom died.
The Shanghai High Court rejected Yang’s appeal against his death sentence in October.
Yang’s case drew rare public criticism of police in China where thousands are executed every year and support for capital punishment is strong.
Local media had said Yang nursed bitterness over maltreatment at the same police station last year when he was interrogated on suspicion of stealing a bicycle.
