Nokia says to launch TD-SCDMA phone in China this year

BEIJING, Aug 6 (Reuters) - Nokia NOK1V.HE will launch a handset in China before the end of the year in partnership with China Mobile (0941.HK) based on the country’s homegrown TD-SCDMA network, a senior executive of the world’s biggest cellphone maker said on Thursday.

Colin Giles, Nokia’s senior vice president for greater China, Japan and Korea, told Reuters the handset would be in the mid-to-high price range and it would be a smartphone based on Nokia’s Symbian software. (Reporting by Michael Wei and Simon Rabinovitch; Editing by Anshuman Daga)
